Having hit television screens in 2004, Strictly Come Dancing has captured the hearts of millions of people around the nation. Bursting with glitz and glamour, the renowned series has also served to inspire greater numbers of people to take up ballroom dancing.

Indeed, having shed its previously unfashionable, fuddy-duddy image, the popularity of ballroom dancing has grown enormously. As a result, an increasing amount of people are beginning to recognise that it can be a great way to exercise and is lots of fun. Not only that, but with the range of sparkling costumes and daring designs, Strictly Come Dancing has also served to demonstrate that dancing is a very glamorous sport.

Showcasing a host of well-known ballroom dances, including the Cha-cha-cha, Jive, Samba, Waltz and Argentine Tango, a selection of the best dancers in the country team up with celebrities to strut their stuff annually, for a period of between 12 and 14 weeks. Each series, the paired dancers compete against each other in a bid to win the much coveted Strictly Come Dancing crown.

Having just entered its seventh series, the show has won critical acclaim around the world. In fact, the programme is so popular that its format has been exported to 30 other countries. It has additionally been awarded many prestigious titles, such as Best Talent Show, Best Reality Show and Best Variety Show at various awards ceremonies and has even been nominated for three BAFTAs.

Due to its phenomenal success, a number of Strictly Come Dancing themed breaks have sprung up over the years. Designed to allow people to meet with the show's stars and pick up a couple of dance steps or two, they are ideal for those who have been bitten by the ballroom dancing bug.

In addition to having the opportunity to mingle with such dancing stars as Brendan Cole or Kristina Rihanoff, you may even get the chance to speak with some of the legendary judges who include the cheeky Bruno Tonioli, successful pop star Alesha Dixon and formidable Craig Revel Horwood. There are also professional dance classes and exclusive performances to take advantage of, as well as the opportunity to take part in your own competition.
